How the calculation works
The saved amount is the original amount multiplied by the discount percentage divided by 100. The final amount is the original amount minus the saved amount.
Conventions and boundaries
- Amount: may be entered in any currency or unit, but the calculator does not identify or convert currencies.
- Discount: must be from 0% through 100%.
- Rounding: calculation keeps full numeric precision; the page displays up to eight decimal places.
- Scope: tax, shipping, stacked discounts, coupons, and merchant-specific rules are outside scope.
Common questions
Does this add sales tax?
No. It only applies the percentage discount you enter.
Can I use a currency?
Yes, enter the numeric amount. The result is in the same currency units, but no currency symbol or exchange-rate conversion is assumed.
